ACS Dance Centre is an award winning dance school and was founded by husband and wife team Mark Anthony and Diana Clifford, as Anthony Clifford Studios in 1994. Both experienced professional performers as well as qualified teachers, between them Mark and Diana have qualifications in all the dance disciplines on their curriculum with Mark obviously being the ideal person to teach our growing boys dance section and encourage their interest. As the school has grown, the principals have been joined by a staff of other highly qualified teachers.

We pride ourselves on excellent standards of training for children and adults whether they wish to learn dancing for Pleasure, fitness and self-confidence or with a view to a career within the profession. We believe everyone should be given the opportunity to dance whatever their age!

The curriculum we offer covers a full range of subjects from ballet, tap modern, jazz, drama and singing to ballroom, latin american and disco/ freestyle. We study the syllabus of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing in which all our teachers are trained and experienced. The ISTD is recognised throughout the world as the leading examining body for dance. We have a strong tradition in teacher training and we are pleased to be one of the first ISTD Approved Dance Centres capable of offering the new government recognised teacher training exams and dance courses. ACS Dance Centre is also a Recognised School with the Council for Dance Education and Training and has been awarded the Council's Certificate of good professional practice. Schools awarded CDET's Recognised School Award demonstrate to students, parents and guardians that they adhere to the standards demanded by the industry; standards designed to protect and safeguard young people whether dancing for leisure or with an eye to a career in the profession. Sending your child to a Recognised School means you know the school is committed to putting their safety first and you can also be assured that the grade exams they take here are recognised by the government and QCA and will in the future be useful to quote on their application forms when applying to universities and jobs as the higher grade exams have UCAS points to GCSE and A level equivalence.

Children can start with ACS from the age of 3 in special baby classes, which are good fun as well as providing help with co-ordination, confidence and concentration. Our classes will then take them through the grades up to and including student level. Those children who have previously learned at another school are also welcome to join though they may be asked to audition in a class to find the correct level, as standards vary considerably. Apart from children's and student classes we have permanent adult classes and regular courses for adults in a variety of dance styles both classes and private lessons. We also offer classes in the major vocational examinations, competitive coaching and teacher training for serious advanced/ professional dance students.

Classes are held at our main studio 66 Albert Road, Romford on the borders of Hornchurch and Romford, in the London Borough of Havering. We have four fully equipped studios as well as waiting areas, a refreshment area, dance shop and changing rooms. We also have our own small car park for the use by our patrons upto 8.00pm weekdays and 5.00pm Saturdays.

We have staged many production shows since our foundation in January 1994, Held at Towngate Theatre Basildon and Queens Theatre Hornchurch. These are generally every two years and each time of an extremely high, professional level! We hold a Christmas display annually for the younger children and beginners, which gives junior students the chance to gain their first stage experience in a shorter show. We are of course delighted with these successes, but grade examinations and medals are still our priority as we aim always to maintain our high levels of achievement and prepare our students to be come well rounded and happy individuals, whether going into theatrical dance or teaching careers or following other career goals. Dance can give huge amounts of fulfillment and self-confidence to everyone. That's why we have been awarded IDS Vocational Dance school of the year three years running, 2013 and 2014 and a silver award in 2015 and again winners in 2016.

In 2014 ACS became a CIO registered charity and invests it's profits back into the school to pursue it's objectives and ethos. We believe everyone should be given the opportunity to dance and gain from it's benefits, of health, happiness and fitness!
